Morning 2007
4.30 am seemed to arrive very quickly. The morning was bright and clear. Tracey
and I arrived in Oxford in time to see the crowds gather on Magdalene
Bridge to welcome the 1st May. We were in good time to see the
student festivities from the previous night, and join in the banter. The
sights you see!! More of Masons Apron arrived at Rose Lane and we waited
together for the bells to ring out at 6am and the choir to
begin. We were very glad of our new fleeces, it was chilly. A hush fell over
the waiting crowds, who by now were back as far as the traffic lights. The
voices of the choir drifted into the clear skies and we listened together. A
huge cheer went up at the end and we made our way to our first dance spot.
The mood was jovial with a good crowd of spectators. Masons danced well,
taking turns with other sides. We moved on to another dance spot joining
Adderbury to finish our session before breakfast. Dancing over and we made
our way to St. Edwards for breakfast. The sun shone through the large
windows as we sat together mulling over the mornings events, nobody in any
hurry to move. A vote of thanks was given and that seemed to herald a cue to
sing. Several sides broke into traditional May morning song and we all
joined in. It was a fitting end to a magical morning.
Thank you Sarah

A couple of weekends later found us at Cry Havoc's Ale. This
was attended by Towersey Morris who preformed a take on the recent film The
Queen which was great fun. Again a good evening. |

| On the night
of the 2007 January lunar eclipse Masons Apron attended the Vale Islanders Ale at
Buckland. The hall had been beautifully decorated with rosemary, ivy and
candles, it was very welcoming. A good evening of dancing, music, food, and
singing followed which was enjoyed by all. |
